Lugansk State Art University in Ukraine credit conversion

We have received some documents from the Lugansk State Art University and the student has completed 7128 credit hours for a 4-year program where the student received a Bachelor's in music arts. The diploma supplement also states that lectures made up 20% (1500) of the credit hours and self-work made up 20% (5628) of the credit hours. How can I convert these units into US semester credit hours?

Thanks,
Carolina

re: Lugansk State Art University in Ukraine credit conversion
Hi, To convert credit hours we apply one of the basic principles of comparative education which states that one year of full-time study at one institution is equivalent to one year of full-time study at another institution. In the United States one year of full-time study is worth between 30-32 credits so a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree program would be worth 120-128 credits. Therefore, under this principle, the 7128 credit hours (4 years of study at this particular institution) in Ukraine would be equivalent to 120-128 credit hours in the United States. To convert the credit hours you would divide 7128 by 120 (7128/120=x) to get 59.4. Then divide each classes’ credit hours by 59.4 to determine the equivalency in US credit hours. For example, if one of the classes was worth 108 credits: 108/59.4= 1.81. At GAE we round credit hours to the nearest quarter so we would evaluate a course worth 108 credits as equivalent to 1.75 credits in the US. -Nathanael
